    Hi everyone,

I have an HV20 that shot a short amount of footage at 1080i60 (HDV). We are hoping to mix it with our present footage, which is DVCPRO50.

Can I capture it as DVCPRO50 in Final Cut or do I need a capture card? When I choose easy setup “DVCPRO-50,” the Log and Capture tool doesn’t recognize the camera/deck. When I switch Easy Setup back to HDV, it works. Perhaps this answers my question?

What would be the best way, then, to get the HDV footage to mix with DVCPRO50?

    Thank you!

[Richard Lowe] “Can I capture it as DVCPRO50 in Final Cut or do I need a capture ca”

You’ll need a capture card. Conversion of HD to SD requires this. Capture of HDV to any format other than HDV or ProRes requires this.

Get a capture card. Capture it as such. Second best, capture as HDV, convert to DVCPRO 50 via Compresor or MPEG Streamclip.
