I have about 3.5 hours of HDV footage that was captured to QuickTime using Final Cut. Avid does not recognize the format. Is there any way these can be brought into the Avid or is it time to rent a deck and capture again? Thanks for any advice.

Quicktime is just a wrapper of the footage. The question is if you have the right codec installed on your avid. What was the compression that Final Cut used and is that codec on your avid machine. If not you will need it installed. If you not sure hit Ctrl+I for a pc and it will you give you info of the clip. Hope this helps any questions please leave more info about the clip.

The HDV codec that FCP uses is only available with FCP. You must install FCP to get this codec.

The other party will have to get the Avid codecs and transcode to one of them, or to something like Photo JPEG 100% or 75%.

Thanks, Shane. I thought this was the case, but I was hoping otherwise.
