  • HDV sequence to mpeg2 ready for SD DVD output

I’ve read a lot of posts about outputting HDV for DVD. The way most seem to be going as recapturing their HDV footage through the DV codec. Is this the best way? That is what I have planned on doing since the DV codec is 480 lines like mpeg2.

I have a HDV project that the client wants the final product to be given to them on DVD in Standard Definition. A few of the shots in the the project are Analog SD video.

I wanted to get some recommendations on the most efficient and high quality method to get my 12 minute project onto an SD DVD. Is one option for me to just go ahead and use compressor 2 out of my HDV sequence to compress it to the mpeg 2 format for DVD Studio Pro 4 and then burn my DVD? Will this play and look like a normal SD DVD(mius the cropping) or will it resize the HDV and SD video in my project?

Thanks in advance for your help!! I work on the G5 with FCP 5.0.
