So I have the great job right now of recapturing HDV footage from tape for a project my company did over a year ago. We’re going to re-master our DVD in HD on whichever format wins. It should be an easy job… something I babysit every once and a while to pop a new tape in, but it’s driving me insane…

The tapes are dropping out or something along those lines, and each time it happens FCP starts a new clip and incrementally increases the number of clips it is capturing (e.g.. the capture window will change from 1 of 8 to 2 of 9). The best I’ve come up with so far is taking the broken clips into QT Pro and cutting and pasting them end to end back into one clip, and reconnecting to that file, but that’s more hands on and time consuming than an essentially automated process should be.

In terms of info… all I have is a project file with offline clips in the timeline, and a box of mini DV tapes.

Thanks for reading / any help,
    Zak
