  • HDV PROCESSING TIME with quadcore

    hi there,

I’ve a big trouble with fcp…my computer takes 24 hours to process one hour HDV project to m2v format “exporting with compressor” – 90 min fastest encode – PRESET directly from fcp.

….duration is the same making a .mov file (current settings) and encoding in a second time with compressor using the same preset.

I heard from somebody that the quadcore has a bug encoding hdv materials….

    …anybody could help me…?

    thank you in advance

    MAC INTEL dual quadcore 3ghz
    4gb ram
    macos 10.4.11
    fcp 6.0.1

I have not had that problem.

Unless your conforming HDV to go back to HDV Tape.
That takes a very long time.

Have you tried exporting the sequence as a quicktime then encoding that with compressor?

That will cut down the compressor render big time.

Unless you’re going back to HDV, why work in HDV? Rendering native Firewire HDV to say 8 bit or ProRes takes nowhere near the time it takes to conform.

And yes, export a movie for Compressor. Going from FCP to Compressor can take many times as long as using a QT movie.
