September 23, 2005 at 7:13 pmHas it rendered the timeline? If you are expecting it to play out in realtime, that doesn’t work, it needs a fairly lengthy render before it goes to tape

September 23, 2005 at 8:06 pmEvetrything is rendered and the HDV timeline is conformed. The print to tape process starts the video playing on my desktop and the camera switches into recoder but no video or audio mak it off my timeline onto the tape.

September 23, 2005 at 8:39 pmIs your camera set up correctly to input the audio and video from FCP? That is, if you’re trying to record via Firewire, is your camera set with Firewire as the input?

September 23, 2005 at 9:10 pmYes, I went thru the settings with Sony Pro products support. I have run FCP rescue, reinstalled QT (as per Apple phone advice). Still FCP Print to tape starts the camera recording and its playing back the time line on my desktop, but no video is going to camera/tape. I am at the clean install OS and Apps stage of trouble shooting. Any ideas are welcome.

September 23, 2005 at 9:45 pmI have the answer. I had the camera hooked up to FCP thru firewire and to a monitor through Svideo. The Svideo prevented the camera from seeing the HDV sorce from the firewire. So I had firewire control but no video signal. So now I can print to tape but only for 19 seconds before the print to tape aborts. so I have another problem to fix, but at least I can get the video to the tape.

September 24, 2005 at 12:07 amTrinity- Recently struggled going off to HDV. My problem is on the a/v devices tab in FCP5 audio/video settings. On the print to tape function I had to check different output for edit to tape/print to video. Found HDV native setting.
Hope this helps.

September 26, 2005 at 2:34 pmTrinity… Jerry’s right. You’re going to kick yourself in the pants, but its simple and it rather bothersome that youy have to do this. But… Go to your Audi/Video Settings and check A/V Devices. Make sure that you check the box that says Different Output for Edit to Tape/Print to Video and select your HDV settings you are using. Now, it will work. I think this is a bug but I don’t think Apple sees it that way.
