    Hi…

I’m using FCP 5.1.4 on an older MAC G5, 1,8ghz 1,25 gb ram. I’ve been trying to do an HDV 1080 60i output to a Sony HVR25mu HDV deck and FCP doesn’t see the deck. Here’s where it gets fun… I can actually control and digitize HDV using the usual protocols (Sony HDV firewire device control and HDV capture preset, it all works fine. I can cut the material real time no problem… But in the view menu, once I’ve refreshed the device, the HDV 1080 60i option appears and but is dimmed and unselectable. Same when I go to the A/V device tab in the Audio/Video Settings, the Playback tab offers the same dimmed 1080 60i option but the output to a different output tab allow me to select the 1080 60i although it still doesn’t see the deck or allow either edit to tape or print to tape…

My local FCP reseller has never seen this, same with the Sony guys I talked to… I’ve done many resets, (trashing prefs and the like… tried 4 different firewire cables…)

Has any one seen this or can any one offer helpful thoughts or hints…
