HDV Noobie question
OK, so I purchased a Canon HV30 HD cam, and I liked it, but ended up going with the Sony HDR-SR12. I bought an HD cam now, not because I necessarily wanted to catch the HD Train, but so that I’d have HD when it’s a little more prevalent (my previous Sony SD cam lasted 6 years).
Anway, so I shot some Easter footage on the Canon in HDV, which I now understand is 1440x1080i. I’m not going to output to DVD or anything, just want to make a nice video that my family can view on my website. I’m just having a hard time figuring out the best output settings.
I tried
MPEG-4
360×270 (which equates to 16:9 (just wanted a smaller size video)
Framerate dafaulted to 23.976 (I’m assuming due to the codec)
Aspect ratio I had set to HD Anamorphic (as that’s what Premiere is indicating my clipd are set to).I got a file of 166MB for 4 minutes (way too big), yet it’s in a 4:3 window.
Obviously I’m setting something wrong here. Does anyone have any suggestions for me to output (with a good quality, low filesize) to a video for the web (I’d definitely like to keep the 16:9 ratio).
Thanks, and sorry for the long post!
