  • HDV Capture with HDMI to Intensity Card using GV-HD700

    Hello all!

OK, I’m pulling my hair out at this point.. Especially after spending 2 hours with sonys tech support, if you can call them that…

I have 12 HDV tapes to load into my system of an indie film shot here in Atlanta. It’s just a loading job because I have an intensity pro card and the client would like pro res rather than HDV.. (who could blame him?) I have captured my personal material from my Sony V1U over HDMI and using firewire for deck control all with no problems whatsoever getting 1920×1080 Pro Res footage into my 8-Core.

So my client gives me a GV-HD700 deck because I refuse to run 12 hours through my camera. It has an HDMI output. However when I goto the status check on the deck it’s telling me the HDMI output is 720x480p. Which if I set my capture settings up in final cut up accordingly I can see the incoming 720x480p signal and capture it. Only problem is I don’t want 720x480p.. I need to capture 1080i, like I do with my V1U.

I have scoured the menu’s and owners manual and can see no way to switch it to 1080 output on the HDMI. Apparently Sony has no idea either, or at least they’re outsourced tech support doesn’t. I was wondering if anyone has had this same experience?? I just don’t understand how you can’t change the setting.

Please help! And thank you so very much!!!

    Matt,

Twelve hours playback time on your camera is nothing. You’ll be onto some other format and some other camera long before those hours become an issue. Just capture the material and get on with more important things.

Thanks David.. This is very true and funny you should say that because I began thinking the same thing after this whole ordeal!

Thanks again for giving some sense!
