I’ve been capturing HDV tapes since version 10.0, however since 10.0.4 I began experiencing a very unusual “capturing” problem.

What I’ve found is on random tapes, FCPX drops the last portion of the captured tape. Whats unusual is instead of the deck stopping, FCPX continues capturing but when the capture is complete, it just drops from the last cut.

For example I was just capturing a miniDV tape that was 1hr long, there was only one stop/start point at 31min. When I compared the tape and the media in FCPX, FCPX dropped the last portion of the capture.

    Anyone else experience this before?

I’ve been experiencing similar problems importing HDV into FCP X. Previously there was no problem. FCP X would end a clip on stop detection, like Auto Import in iMovie and Capture Now in FCP 7. This is problematic as portions of a clip don’t get captured or imported now. I have resorted to using iMovie to import HDV, rather than FCP 7.

This is an obvious bug in FCP X
