    Hi

Apologies in advance for the newbie-nature of this question.

I have a 12-month-old MacBook Pro which I have been using to successfully capture HDV footage from my Sony Z1. However, after working on a couple of larger projects I have become fed up of always teetering on the edge of enough hard disk space and so am about to invest in a G-Tech Raid 2TB drive.

Before I delve in, my question is this: if I’m capturing via the MacBook’s firewire port, how do I connect the new external drive? I’ve read there are Express 34 eSATA ports you can buy for around £40, but before spending money on both that and the drive, I wanted to check I’m going to be able to do what I want to do which is capture straight to what will hopefully be my new scratch disk (after scouring your forums looking for an answer to this particular question, it looks as though this is what I should have been doing from the start).

    Thanks

    Geoff
