    hey Gregory,

Unfortunately, no… never found a solution. I just used my notebook (XP) as to capture to an external hd and used the hd to my Vista PC to do the editing. a bit of a pain.

Since the Sony is not my main camera, i didn’t using the workaround a few times.

If you find a solution, please do post it here as I’ll have to capture from it again in months from now.

    Hi Gilles,

Well, I’m not sure if this will work for you or not, but I did manage to find a solution to my issues.

I checked on a few other forums, and saw a post with very similar comments to ours. He used a free Fire Wire driver download from HP.

    https://h10025.https://www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/genericSoftwareDownloadIndex?cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&softwareitem=ob-74849-1&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN

The site says it works with Vista (which is what I have) but the guy on the other forum was running Windows 7.

Once I downloaded the drivers and restarted my PC twice (not sure why it took that many time) I was able to capture HDV on Vegas Pro 10.

We’ll see how well it works tomorrow, but for today I’m able to get my HD.

Hope you have the same luck!

    G

    Thanks!

    sounds promising 🙂

I’m assuming that you don’t have an HP PC either correct?

    Hey Gilles,

You are correct. I have a Gateway instead of an HP.

It’s still working as of this morning.

I did have to restart my PC twice for the driver to kick in, but if you go this route hopefully you’ll have a quicker time of it.

    Good Luck!

Huh, OK, so now when I try the link again it still won’t work. That is odd.

Am I not allowed to post a link? Or is there a trick to posting one I don’t know about?

You can do a google search for this:

    JMicron 1394 Filter Driver

The first link in my google results is the page where I downloaded the driver from.

Hope this works better! Sorry for any confusion.

    Thanks!

Thanks so much for posting the Google search criteria. I found the driver this way.

    Perfect!

I’ll try it next time I get to use that Sony cam again.

    Cheers,
    Gilles
