    Be very careful about the language you use. Canon Hf100 is not an HDV camera. It uses AVCHD. Make sure you set the recording to the highest quality settings (24Mbps) as the other settings will contribute to noise and lower resolution.

    Also important to understand it that there’s lighting for exposure but also lighting for creative control.

    You must make sure that you disable any auto gain and auto white balance camera feature otherwise you’ll be fighting the camera’s attempts to find what it thinks are “optimal” settings.

    If this was me at home, goofing around, I would bounce some light off those white walls and ceiling to raise the overall level without making shadows or a hot spot in the camera shot, then add an adjustable-output LED light panel with some diffusion to the camera to fill in under your face.
