Basically, I can’t get FCP 6.0.3 to capture HDV 720p60 footage through firewire on a JVC BR-HD50 deck. We have IoHD’s, which work perfectly, but I wanted to see if it could capture the 59.94 720p format with the new easy setup in Final Cut. I can capture, but it will only capture in 1 to 10 second increments. Heres a rundown of our workflow. We shoot our footage in a studio on JVC HD-250 cameras which we then live switch. So, basically, the footage is fed through our switcher and into a JVC BR-HD50 deck where it is recorded. I also occasionally do a live capture with a Kona LH card via HD-SDI, but tape backup is a must. The studio records at 720p at 59.94. Once I receive the tapes, the only way I can ingest into FCP is through our AJA IoHD’s.

I have gone through and tweaked about every device control and capture setting, even unchecking the “create new clip on start and stop” with the same results everytime. I’ve checked the settings in the deck as well, and everything seems as it should be.

Is there something I’m completely missing here? Is this a common problem? Although I can capture via IoHD in ProRes, I need other options for ingest since we have more JVC decks than IoHD’s. Thanks,

    Jordan
