    Hello all!

Okay, I found out in my previous post that my SONY M15U HDV deck doesn’t play nice with Premiere CS5 on account of Premiere not being able to capture via FW 800 and my Mac Pro only having FW 800 ports.

Therefore, since Final Cut Pro can import via FW 800 I am forced to import with FCP and then drop it into Premiere. (Yes, I am saving up for an AJA card, but until then, this is my lot).

My question is then, am I alright capturing into Pro Res with FCP and then using that in Premiere or am I better off using a different codec? Thanks much!

    HDV 1080i fcp7 vs. cs5

I was wondering about all this a well. I have the Sony HDR-FX7 and am looking to just import directly from the camera with firewire 400.

I want to edit in CS5
I am wondering if I should import directly into cs5 and edit the sequence in the native format. Or should I convert the video codec first in media encoder, or should I convert in FCP7’s Compressor to Apple Prores 4444 first, and then create a sequence to match that in CS5 ?

Basically I just want to end this project with the highest quality video codec/container available for HDV 1080i60 – so whether that is just sticking with that native codec all the way through or converting to prores or some other codec from cs5 first, than let me know
