With the advent of RAW acquisition, namely the RED and now Arri and with digital delivery overtaking film and tape is there really a need for HDSDI?

I’m trying to work out if I can monitor via HDMI 10bit instead of HDSDI 444 for Color Grading.
As footage is captured with REDCODE and deliver is on Hard Drive what are the real needs for HDSDI?

Does the DeckLink HD Extreme 3D mean you don’t need a HDLink Pro, as could you just view the RED footage via HDMI out instead of having to have it go HDSDI 444 to HDMI into the monitor.

HDSDI was very relevant for tape VTR’s but now with digital delivery for broadcast and DCI for Cinema and RAW acquisition….
    What am I missing here?
