HDLink Pro 2K Monitors
Posted by Liam Stephens on December 20, 2007 at 8:30 pmHi All
Is there a list of consumer monitors available ie the Apple Cinema Display range that will be able to monitor 2K using the HD Link Pro when it is released?
cheers

December 24, 2007 at 2:11 amI agree here too – the Dell 30″ is spectacular, and has lots more features than the Apple.

December 28, 2007 at 2:21 amWhat about HP’s 30-inch LP3065 LCD?
Does that compare to either two mentioned already?I am in the market for one two and am looking at the Dell.

December 28, 2007 at 6:11 pmNot sure about the HPs…see if you can find any reviews?..but the Dell’s have the same screen as Apples, so if you like the apples it makes 100% sense to go for a Dell instead. They have a Mac setting aswell, so no probs there.

March 4, 2008 at 1:57 amOk so the day has arrived i have the Kona3, the 2x 2.8 Quad Core, Dell 30″ and the HD Link Pro. Only issue is I can’t get the Dell monitor to view 2k images. I can put HD 1920×1080 on there but not 2k. When i can get it to show a 2k image it is just interference. Any ideas???
cheers

March 4, 2008 at 3:14 amOK so maybe a little more info is called for! I’m using FCP6 my sequence is 2048×1556.
So after a lot of experimenting if i change my sequence to 2048×1080 it seems i can monitor 2k but it is only 2048×1080 at 23.98. The monitor will not read however 2048×1080 at 24.
Another big issue is the picture does no fill the screen. It fills around 2/3rds of the screen which is not aesthetically pleasing to clients.
Is the 30″ apple going to fix these issues?

March 4, 2008 at 10:22 amHi,
If I’m not wrong, the Kona 3 is not capable of sending out a full 2K 3 Gb/s signal required by the HDLink Pro. That is, 2048×1556. Basically, you’re dealing with 2 devices with different signal formats here. I don’t think getting the Apple 30″ will help in this instance.
