HDLink — HD-SDI to DVI input on Sony CRT — Possible? Pros? Cons?

I’m looking at the KD-30XS955 which has an HDMI input. Would it be advantageous to use a HDLink2 as an intermediary to connect with HDMI and use gamma, color settings of The HDLink2?
