HDCAM won’t edit to tape
The problem I’m having is that my HDW-D1800 seems to be incompatable with the BLACKMAGIC prores edit to tape window. I can crash record a prores movie to the deck but when I use the “edit to tape” I only record the soundtrack and blobby green digital mess where the picture is supposed to be!

You might want to post this on the BMD forum, but are you dragging your sequence from the browser to the ETT window?

We have a Decklink forum here on the COW, you might want to post there.
Sounds like you have an output mismatch somewhere if you’re not seeing video. I’m assuming you see the correct video going to your monitor?

I have posted on the blackmagic forum as well, but seems to be a collision of a whole bunch of issues so I thought I’d post here too. Yes, I’m dragging from the browser to the ETT window.

Yes, I think it is an output mismatch, but I’ve tried all the easy setups that should work here. Seems strange that there’s no compatible output.
And it did work with a crash edit, so how come not in the ETT window?
The movie plays out fine via my monitor though.

Honestly don’t have an answer. We don’t run BlackMagic products here.

The output should be set to 10bit at whatever resolution you are working in.

Wouldn’t you know it.. I had the wrong reference video selected on the deck. Here’s what a friendly stranger told me:
The trick is to make sure the reference is selected to ‘input’ NOT REFERENCE; otherwise you will get exactly what you are getting.
And it worked!
