I recently purchased a Sony F900 and need to upgrade my FCP edit system. I will be buying a HDCAM deck (used….like the camera) but need to get my 2.3 Dual G5 up to speed. I currently am running two raided internal 400 gig drives with a AJA le box connected to my BVW70 Betcam deck.

With the HDCAM footage I have two goals:
    1. To cut programming (a one hour HD documentary is the first project)
    2. Stock footage uploading and storage.

I don’t need to be connected to other systems/storage…..
….would like to be able to capture uncompressed (Stock Footage)
…..need to be able to downconvert projects to Standard Def, with 4X3 centercuts from 24p and 30p raw tapes.

I see alot of new technology out there including the new intel macs, so I want to make shure I’m getting the right gear.

Promax has recommended the Kona 3 Card with a Promax 2.5TB 10 Drive SATA Array or a 5-TB 10 Drive SATA Array.

Any recommendations will be appreciated, especially from users with good working systems.

    Thanks!

That sounds good, but I don’t know who makes that disk array so I personally would be hard pressed to trust it.

myself, I have a black magic multibridge extreme (I’d gladly trade for a kona3 which was not yet out at the time) and storage is a ciprico 4210 4GB fibre channel disk array. Its a bit of overkill but I have to be prepared for anything. 🙂

You might consider the Caldigit HDPRO as a storage device.

    my 2 cents.
