HD to SD
Hello Everyone!
I have a clip with Sony EX3 1080p footage. I have to provide my client a SD 16:9 version of the orginal HD clip. I use Compressor 3 for all my format conversion and get great quality all the time. However, I have problem this time. I get some pixel artifacts when I play back the SD DVD on TV.Here is how I decoded for SD DVD. I output my Sony EX3 file as quicktime directly from Final Cut. I do a format conversion to dvNTSC and then convert the dvNTSC quicktime file to default hight quality DVD best quality 90 minutes inside Compression. And use DVD Studio Pro to out SD DVD.
Is there a way I can remove this pixelation?

WHy are you doing a 2 step conversion?
For best quality – Export to Compressor from your FCP timeline. Make a CBR preset with the setting of 6.5 Mbps, make sure the m2v field dominance is set to progressive. This ties up FCP while it encodes but it is the best quality.
If you don’t want to Export the timeline just take the clip to Compressor as is or Export a QT movie with the current setting and compress that.
