A few years ago you knew that your DVDs would be watched on a CRT TV with interleaved video. But progressive scan flat screen TVs are getting cheaper and the Feb 09 digital TV changeover will almost certainly put my family in the 1080p tribe along with many others. In a few years the majority of TVs will probably be HD p-scan.

What is the best video format for DVDs destined for progressive scan TV?

Is there a way to future proof projects made now that may be watched now on a CRT TV but will have HDTV in the future? Or is it just a matter of remaking the project when the change is made from CRT TV to HD progressive scan TV?

Thanks as always for the help.

I’m sure you’ve heard about Blu-ray, and maybe even seen it. That’s your answer. Anamorphic SD is next best thing, especially if watched on an up-converting player.
