HD studio monitor for use w/ FCP
Hey all,
I have a FCP HD system w/ dual 23″ screens and a Kona2 and I need to add a studio monitor. I don’t have the budget for a real HD studio monitor, so I plan on using just a regular HDTV. I’m editing both SD and HD content in both 4:3 and 16:9. I’m considering these:
Which would be better for HD/SD editing w/ both aspect ratios? Is there anything else to consider with these monitors for this use, like lack of certain inputs? Does anyone have any other recommendations for a studio monitor in the same price range?

Keep in mind that both TVs require certain compromises. Of course everything will be a compromise until all TV signals are HD.
The 32″ is a 4×3 TV, so SD will be full-screen, while HD will be letterboxed (top and bottom) occupying a relatively small part of the screen. So, that one favors SD viewing at the HD viewing.
On the other hand, the 30″ is a 16×9 TV, so while HD will display full-screen, SD will be letterboxed (on the sides), occupying a relatively small part of that screen, unless you stretch the picture, which will of course distort it. That one favors 16×9 HD viewing at the expense of SD.
