    Hi
I guess this has been answered before, but any help would be good.

I’m taking the HDMI feed from the side of the camera and sending it to an AJA HDMI to HDSDI convertor. Then taking the HD feeds, 1 to DOP monitor & 1 up to an Alphatron Viewfinder, so far so good, have picture on both, however when I hit record I loose the pictures, (told it converts to SD video hence loosing HD)

Is there an upgrade that will give me a live HD feed through the HDMI cable when I hit record.

    Thanks
    for any help.
    Mark

The 5D2 can’t send out a clean picture via the HDMI port unless you hack the camera (the 5D3 can with the most recent firmware, 1.2.1). If you want to do this you’ll need to run Magic Lantern ( https://www.magiclantern.fm ) on your 5D2. It has been around now for about 5-6 years so the workflow is pretty tried and true. However, you are voiding the warranty and taking a risk that may break (or brick) your camera. Please read up on it and do your homework. The COW has a lot of information regrading ML, as does their website (or a simple Google search).
