Hello! I’m editing footage sent to me in HD format in Final cut Pro. I’m trying to figure out the best way to get my final pieces to my client. I don’t have a deck to output my footage to, I only have my Sony HDV HDR-FX7 (the footage was not shot on my camera…). Can I output my HD footage edited in FDP to Mini-dv tape in my HDV camera? If so, how do I do it? I was reading up that I have to do some edit to tape option in FCP and it was just confsing me…Also, will I lose the HD quality even though I’m using a HDV camera?

    Thanks!

Wow! This is the second post in a row on this theme and I’m trying to figure out what I’m missing.

How do folks land gigs with clients when they don’t have the first clue about how to use their tools? You seriously accepted a job without having any idea how you were going to deliver it?

Where are these clients that are so willing to hire editors who can’t provide any evidence that they actually know what they’re doing?

Really, I’m not trying to be a *(@%, I think it just comes naturally.

ok, I’m not sure if they’re going to publish my last post cuz I was kind of rude in it. So I’m replying again by saying that I don’t appreciate your response at all, I don’t know why you would even post it seeing how the idea of this forum is to help people, not judge them and put them down. You don’t know my client, what my project is or what I’m even doing, so please dont judge me or other ppl.

I’m used to using Avid and having a tape deck and I’m new to HD. I know putting HD on a dv will lose quality, I just wasnt sure if the HDV part of my equation makes a difference.

I know how easy it is to output to a camera, i was just reading about assemble and insert editing using editing to tape in the manual and didnt understand what that all was about and if I had to even deal with that option.

I would appreciate some advice from a video professional please. Instead of someone judging my editing abilities (i never said I was a pro, geez…). Thank-you.

You’re right. I wasn’t being helpful at all.

    I’m sorry.

Let me give you one piece of helpful advice. Use the Final Cut Pro Basics forum. Mean, grouchy people like me stay away from the Basics forum. Or at least when we DO go there, we take our meds first.
