hd options for youtube under 10 minute video
Hi there I have a question that has been asked a few times only I can’t quite find the answer I”m looking for.
I have a video that I created and have imported into Sony vegas 11. I have done the editing to it and now I want to render it to put it up on youtube.
It needs to be in HD. What I can’t figure out is what setting to use for youtube.For some reason the files are ending up being 19gb which is then taking 6 hours to upload to youtube. The videos are less than 10 minutes so I have a feeling I am doing something wrong with the rendering.
I am using the standard HDV 720-24p (1280×720, 23.976 fps) setting and not sure what to use to render it.
Can’t use the 360 internet option because the video just looks really pixelated.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Please make it as simple as possible as I’m a simple user. thanks so much.

Simply use the Sony AVC format with one of the
Internet template thats of the same resolution.
Or you can use the Mainconcept format accordingly.Steve Rhoden

In Vegas Pro 11.0, look under the Sony AVC encoder you will see templates called “Internet HD …“. Use one of those. These were moved to the MainConcept AVC encoder for Vegas Pro 12.0 so it is version specific but the Internet templates are great for YouTube as Steve said.

FYI, it has been recently updated, improved support for VP12 and YouTube.

Ok so just checking in what you said Steve and John. When I am in Vegas about the video there is the project video properties drop down box where you can choose which format you want the video in. Which do I pick from that drop down box for the settings. At the moment I have HDV 720 – 24p, 23.976 fps and then if I pick the main concept option it renders the video to be 19gb for 7 minutes which ends up being way to big for youtube. Is it possible I am doing something wrong or is that sizing right for that length of video.
I know Aleksey mentioned the internet in HD option only I don’t have that, I only have the internet 360 or 480 but they aren’t in HD so the quality of the video is really bad.

You should either choose the settings that match your source video or choose the settings that match your delivery format. There are pros and cons to each.

Are you using the Internet templates? What version of Vegas are you using? If you read my post, it’s different depending on your version of Vegas.

No. Aleksey mentioned a plug-in that he wrote and distributes for free. I mentioned the Internet HD templates. If you tell me what version of Vegas you are using, I’ll tell you where to find them. It is version dependent.

yeah worked out it was a user issue, meaning me as a user having an issue. I had checked the box to match the files for rendering and so I only had a small selection. Didn’t realise I had done that.
Thank you so much for the help, turns out it was just me. lol
