It looks like everything is set up ok, but i can’t get video playback in my capture and log window. Audio Video Settings says

    “Video Playback: [Missing] DVCPRO HD (1080i600 (1920 x 1080)
Audio Playback: [Missing] DVDPRO HD Out”

can anyone help me out here? i would be most greatful.

i am now trying to monitor throught the sony HDV deck and scrapping trying to monitor using FCP 5 log and capture window.

One problem: I can log the clips fine, but when i try to “batch capture,” the deck just plays. It doesn’t record anything and it doesn’t stop at the out point.

can someone help me out here… please!?!?

First things first. You need to use the HDV Easy Setup, not the one for DVCPro HD. Totally different format. Try that and see if that doesn’t get you going.

there’s your problem, in your first post you said you’re not seeing DVCPro HD devices, not you say you’re using HDV. Two completely different formats. use the HDV easy setups.

i am editing a documentary in HDV. it is my first project in the format. it should be a learning experience 🙂

I’ll try not to spam the board too bad.

    thanks again!

one other thing…. currentlly i am using the deck to monitor audio. i haven’t found a way to monitor the HDV audio via the FCP log and capture window. Is it even possible using firewire?

That’s because the Speaker is turned OFF by default in the Apple Capture presets. You need to go into the preset and turn the Speaker ON under the Advanced tab of the capture preset menu.

    Walter,
IIRC, in FCP 5 the clip settings tab has an audio preview button, so no need to change capture presets.
