Hi Bob,
The short answer is that it crops.
HDLink connects to LCD displays with a DVI-D connection, eg the 20 and 23″ Apple displays. The 30″ Apple display has a dual-link DVI-D connection and so HDLink does not support that. However the forthcoming Multibridge Extreme and Multibridge Studio have dual-link DVI-D monitoring output built-in so you can use them with the 30″ display.
We experimented with connecting a HDLink to the Apple 30″ display and found that the display automatically doubles the size of all video received from the HDLink. This isn’t very good for monitoring as a lot of a HD1080 image extends outside of the area of the display as it is attempting to display HD1080 at x2. You can kind of use it but I don’t think it is a very useful combination for most work and we don’t support that configuration.
The DVI-D monitoring output of the Multibridge Extreme and Multibridge Studio will support the use of single-link DVI-D and dual-link DVI-D displays.
