HD LCD on camera monitor advice
Hey folks! I’ve been using a Panasonic TC-7WMS1 (SD) 7″ monitor as well as the HVX’s LCD flip out with good results. I’m shooting a lot more HD projects now and feel the need to migrate to an HD LCD.
I’ve been digging thru the archived posts here and I’m trying to narrow down products/brands/price. Seems like Marshall is popular as well as Ikan. I’ve been looking at Manhattan LCD as well.
I’d like a 5″-7″ model to mount on top the HVX200. I can go with a Marshall and power with A/B batteries but I’m afraid of the combined weight using an Israeli/articulating arm with A/B batteries.
I was hoping to get some feedback and advice here on who’s using what and offer your input.

+1 for Ikan, Marshall on the more affordable side. Panasonic’s HD LCD’s cannot be beat if you have the $.

If you can stretch to $2000-2500, my two favorites are the Flanders Scientific 7″ and TV Logic 7″. They look amazing, have fantastic scopes, vector and waveform(Flanders adds GBR parade, columns, audio, histogram, false color), markers for many aspect ratios in any color, red peaking, pixel to pixel, embedded audio from HD SDI, embedded TC from HD SDI. DVI, dual HD SDI, composite, component inputs. HD SDI loops, unlike the Panasonic BT-LH80. These might be too much monitor for an HVX200, but at least they’ll be ready for the next camera upgrade.

I love the Flanders gear but I wish it were named something else. Everytime I look at one of those monitors I hear Homer Simpson say, “Shut Up, Flanders…”

Thanks guys! Still looking at the Ikan VX9 8.9″ HD-SDI LCD and the new Marshall V-LCD70XP-HDA-AB 7″ LCD w/Anton Bauer Mount. The Small HD DP1x looks viable. Anyone know anything besides what’s on their site?

Hmmm, Flanders Scientific 7″ LM-0750W is only 800×480 – see tech specs on the upper right. $1,995 seems like a lot for such low resolution for an HD monitor. Am I missing something?
