i have never used HD footage in FCP before. i have been asked to edit some HD footage.
can i digitise through the camera (firewire) or do i need a special deck / camera?
i was told the live action footage is being shot onto DV, just at the higher HD res. how do i treat this in FCP?

thanks, in anticipation of any advice!

What format of HD are you talking about? You need to be specific…there are so many.

Are you talking HDV? Then yes, you can capture that into FCP 5 via firewire…and via the camera.

Search this forum for the keywords HDV to hear all about it. It isn’t an easy format to work with.

[Shane Ross] “What format of HD are you talking about? You need to be specific…there are so many.”

ditto on that and I’ll add what frame rate are you going to work in? that also will determine workflow.
