There is some HDV footage that was captured through final cut 5.

It was done on another computer.

I only have Final Cut 4.5.

When I try to load the footage into after effects it shows white.

Is there a certain codec that I will need to download? I assume that is what it is. I just can’t figure it out.

Where could I download the codec.

    Thanks
    Josh

Check out the Final Cut Pro forum. You might need the special FCP intermediate codec for working in HDV.

But for what it’s worth, HDV should be converted to something else such as Animation or Photo-JPEG as soon as it’s captured. It’s a lousy codec for editing and compositing — it’s an acquisition codec. You might need to have this conversion done on the FCP 5 machine.
