  • HD exports are slightly unstable – frame rate ?

    Hi all,

I’m running FCP 7, and for a while now I’ve been happily exporting HQ files for the web, and also standard DVDs via DVDSP without any problem. I was recently asked to produce a file of a programme in HD, they wanted 1920×1080.

    Not a problem I thought – I shoot using a Sony EX1 at 1920×1080 @ 25p

I produced the edit as normal on FCP7 and it looks great on the timeline, but for some reason the final exported file looks very slightly jittery. The quality is great, it just seems to be the frame rate that seems a bit irregular. Its only really noticeable on panning shots, or when there’s movement on the screen, especially with crawling graphics.

I’ve tried many exporting test samples, ie – Apple pro res 422 (HQ) 25p & 50i, to XDCAM EX 1080i50 & 25p and many in between. I’ve never really had to export at this quality before so why am I getting this problem now when all my SD stuff has been fine ? Is it to do with my sequence settings ?
Hope you can help – thanks in anticipation
