  • HD export settings from AVID to AE and back

    Hey guys,

So I’m working with some HD projects, shot on a Sony F-900, at 23.976, 1920×1080, captured to HDCAM tapes. We brought them into the AVID at DNxHD175. The sequences are now picture locked and are ready to be sent to After Effects and Combustion for visual effects. My question is what settings should I send these files off to these other programs? Some have told me Same as Source and others have told me the Animation Codec at the highest settings.

Also, what settings would I export back from these programs to the AVID to lay it back to HDCAM tape for screenings in a theater. The plan for these movies are to go to film festivals, so I was just wondering what settings would give me an no loss in quality to the files. For example, will I lose some quality, as seen on a theater screen, if I export it from the AVID with the best settings on Animation, bring it in to AE, export it from AE with the best settings on Animation?

    Thanks a lot guys,
    Robert
