HD DVCPRO50 Codecs on Windows?
Hi —
Is there any possible way to play HD DVCPRO50 footage that I’ve ingested from P2 cards, on a PC. I know this is a FCP only codec, but I’ve been able to play it on other non-FCP macs by installing the codec in the quicktime folder.
Is there a way to do something like that on a PC?
It’s problematic when non-Mac users need to work with the footage.

Nope…no way to do this. Once you import it from the card it is not viewable on a PC, as there is no DVCPRO HD codec in Quicktime for PCs.
Now…DVCPRO 50 or DVCPRO HD? Those are two different codecs. DVCPRO 50 is standard def.

Dan,
That’s the very reason Apple paid to get an exclusive with Panasonic. I think Matrox may have a solution, but I’m not certain and even if they do it may not be available to non-Matrox users. I’d check on the Matrox forum and the P2 Forum if I were you.
