  • HD downconvert to monitor: video wont play properly

I’m sure there is some relatively easy thing that I’m overlooking but here’s the deal:

I am playing a DVCPRO 1080i60 sequence in Final Cut. The decklink is sending and properly downconverting the footage to my NTSC monitor and showing it as letterboxed SD. The only problem is that the monitor will only show the frame that I park on. If I play the sequence, it doesnt play on the monitor, it just stays on that same still frame. If I stop playing the sequence, it will show the new parked frame. What am I forgetting?

I the decklink preferances I have selected HD to SD Letterbox 16:9

I am running FCP 5.04, a decklink HD Pro (single link), driver 5.7.2 on a dual 2.5 G5. 2 gigs RAM.

    thanks!

Your video preview settings are probably causing that.

I’ve noticed that happen when the frame rate isn’t exact of your source footage.

I actually figured it out two days ago with the help of Kristian Lam. What I had to do was create a new project and use the easy settings for DVC Pro 1080i60, match the video playback to that and THEN paste the old project (which was handed off to me from someone else) into the newly created one. Once I did that, it worked like a charm.
