This may be a little off topic, but I just had a HD crash. Everything is backed up on and external drive. The nice people at Dell are replacing it at no charge.
My question is: Once I have the new drive installed should I just copy my current projects into the new drive? Will there be an issue if I try to open a project and it searches for the media but it’s not in the same place as before?
Sorry if my questions are a little elementary and simple. But I’ve not dealt with this before.
I just want to know what I may be dealing with once I get VP10 reloaded and try to finish a few projects I was in the middle of before the crash.

You shouldn’t have any issues. Vegas will prompt you to search for any missing pieces and will find them very easily.
