    Hello,

i’m a beginner with HD capture

I transfered my HD shooting on a DV cassette…

I’m working with Final cut pro 4.5
with a Kona card and Blackmagic decklink for uncompressed.

    But…I have some setting HDTV

I want to know what do I need to work it out ?
and if I’ ve got everyting, how do I need to set my FCP
    AUDIO AND VIDEO SETTING?

    Probably:

    Blackmagic HDTV 720 29.97Hz – 10 bit.

If one of you will help I’ll be verry happy !
    Tank’s for help

    P.S: I don
I don’t have any HD monitor, does it matter ??

    ciao

You didn’t need to transfer your footage to DV if you have a Kona 2. The Kona 2 can downconvert on the fly to DV as you capture. No need to transfer footage and you maintain the original timecode.

You set your Audio and Video settings to whatever you want to edit with. 720p 8bit 24, 720p DVCPro HD 24, 1080i 8bit 29.97, etc….. Whatever it is you’re trying to edit with, that’s what you set your A/V settings to.

If you plan to color correct, it matters a great deal. Standard Def monitors can’t handle the wide color range of true HD. You can edit just fine using a downconverted signal, but you don’t want to color correct with it.

    Tank’s a lot Walter…

Actually, yes HD capture work with my usual NTSC setting,
but I still need to adjust the image in the viewer, cause the image is stretched.
    It’ s weird !

In fact..there is an anamorphic little box where you can clic on, just beside the frame size you wants (In the capture presets setting), and it give me a 16:9 screen mode but then if I bring them in an other size of format it streched. And I adjust it but it’s a gess about the real size of the 16:9 image…

And… it does not matter about the monitor, the HD shooting is so great that I don’t really need to make color correction. But it’s important for me to know now !!
