    Hello all

Upgraded from FCP 4.5 to 5.0 in the middle of a project (I know, never again).
Project has footage captured in 4.5 (from Varicam, 23.98, DVCPRO HD 720p) with only 1 track of audio showing up.
Same footage imported into a 5.0 project has all 4 tracks of audio show up (all were there, FCP 4.5 just could not recognize them).

If I upgrade the 4.5 project to 5, the clips still only show one audio track. But if I go through the reconnect media process (and just reconnect these clips to the media that is already there – essentially refreshing them), the same clips that I have worked on for months NOW have 4 tracks. Great – that seems simple.

The only problem is that I don’t know how to get the subclips (that reference the master clips that I have just refreshed) to refresh and recognize the new audio tracks – they are still working on the parameters of the old master clips (1 audio track).

Any ideas ? I posted a similar question weeks ago and did not get one response (it solved itself) – let’s hope I am luckier this time.

    thanks

    Mike

You can’t just reconnect the subclips? What happens?

    Thanks for your reply Jerry.

This was my thinking initially – I tried to reconnect the subclip to the master clip from whence it came.

But the result was weird – once reconnected, the subclip had 4 video tracks, and still presented the specific video and audio out of which I had made the original subclip, but I could also hear other audio from the beginning of the master clip that the subclip was made from and the total length of the subclip now increases to the total length of the master clip.

    weird.

    any thoughts ?

    Michael
