Thanks Gary. Unfortunately, the menu on the 1400 is not the same as the 1200 so I am a little confused………. and frustrated! OO2 is the tape timer on the 1400! I’ve tried to figure it out with no luck. Do you have the settings for the 1400 deck?

    Thanks

You can download the HD-1400 manual from the following URL:

    https://panasonic-broadcast.com/download.cfm?pid=11807&type=manual&r=47

The menu settings are on page 32-34.

    Cheers!

By the way, the setting for the FireWire outputs are in the 800 section (DIF) of the menu.

In effect you need to set the 894 parameter (not 002) to a different setting and this will affect the way the FireWire port handles the various formats.

All of the menus are virtually the same on both decks– nothing I noted said anything about 002???

020 -SYS format (your tape format)
    022 PlayBack format
    023 Format Select

Menu 894 still sets the Firewire video output setting.
0000 is HD (this is factory default)
    0001 is DVCPro50
    0003 is DV

But use Rune’s message to DL the Manual. I did to check.

Thanks Gary & Rune. My apologies Gary. What I meant was 0002 not 002, I was looking under menu-basic that goes 001, 002, 003, etc. NOW I know where you got the 0002 from (sub of 894!). I’ve tried the settings that you gave but no go. Here’s what I have:

020 1080i (same as my tape format)
    022 manual
023 HD_LP ( same as my tape format)
    864-0002 (DV)

HD-1400 connected to DSR-45 through firewire. No image???

I know, it’s probably something very stupid that’s I’m not seeing here. Any suggestions??

    Thanks.

Ok, here’s an update guys. I did a little trouble shooting last night. I hooked up the HVX-200 to HD-1400 through firewire and I could get an image on the HVX (camera set to 480/60i). I connected the HVX to the DSR-45 through firewire (camera set to 480/60i) and it worked fine. So I have no clue why the DSR-45 won’t see the signal from the 1400 when connected through firewire with all the same settings. Any ideas??

    Thanks

An update. I managed to get it working! For someone else that runs into this problem, you have to change dif setup, 880 dif speed to 0000 (S100). I’m still not sure why the same config. wouldn’t work with the HVX and the DSR-45. Any thoughts on this?? Any who, I’m just glad I got it to work!

Thanks again guys for all your help!

Make sure you reset the deck to Factory settings before changing the menus.

We spend 4 hours without getting video on FCP until we restored the deck to factory settings.
On our manual the procedure to restore to factory settings was on page 28.
