  • having transition problems after color round trip, please help.

    Posted by Roli Rivelino on December 21, 2009 at 11:38 pm

    My work flow has been as follows;

    media > FCP > edit > add filters, motion effects, transitions > duplicate timeline > remove transitions, filters and motion effects > send to color > grade & color > back to FCP > re-add filters and motion effects

    and then I can’t add my transitions back, I keep getting the insufficient content error message.

    It’s late and I’m probably missing something obvious, but what? Please help.

    many thanks

    I’m guessing that you didn’t render in Color with HANDLES. They default to 00;00;00;00… you have to manually set it to 1;00 or 2:00, whathaveyou. So if you rendered without handles, you have no way to add the transitions back. I always render with 1:00 handles.

    And, BTW, you can leave the transitions on the cut. Sending to FCP from Color retains them just fine.

    Cool Shane, thanks a lot for your help, I shall endeavour to do that, is it straight forward? As I’m sure I haven’t seen that option before.

    Many thanks

    IN the SETUP tab…that’s where you find HANDLES.
