sorry admins, but I posted this in the panasonic forum as well, just trying to cast the net wide.

I’m trying to export some files to tape and I’m using print to video in FCP, problem is, that even though FCP is assuming control of my camera, ie when I hit record on screen the camera starts recording, but it’s not recording my files.

I’ve tried cam and mcr/vcr mode in cam it just records the back of my lens cap and in vcr I get a -12db sign, which is what I’ve set the print to video tool to, and a bulb type symbol.

Also I get a warning just after activating the PTV tool asking me to make sure audio and video connections are established, which of course I have via 1394 fw.

    What am I doing wrong?

    many thanks

Well, the only tape that it records to is DV…are you sending a DV timeline to the camera? You can’t send a 720p or 1080i to the tape and have it record DV. It needs to be sending a DV signal. And you need to make sure that the camera is in TAPE mode, not P2.
