Have a lot of “black space” at the end of my project
So I have a lot of “blank/black” space at the end of my project. this is because i cut like 10 minutes from a video clip. How do i get rid of this black space? I know how to render it with only what i’ve selected, but while i’m working its quite annoying to have my scroll bar at the bottom of my timeline be super tiny…..
the way i did it was by putting a random clip towards the end, highlight all the blank space between, and then delete. but i can’t seem to just highlight stuff at the end if there isn’t something “there”….

My guess is that there’s a very tiny sliver of video at the end of your timeline. Press the FFWD key to go to the very end. Assuming you go past what’s supposed to be the end of your last clip, zoom in, see what’s there and delete it. Go to the beginning and press the FFWD key again. This time it should stop at the end of your last clip. Save your project and render ????

I agree. If you want to get more forensic about it, check out Edit Detail View. In this “spreadsheet” type layout you can see ALL the Media elements on your Timeline, very useful. Interrogate the information and you’ll see the actual length and position on the TL.

Here is a way to solve it;
Click on the timeline where you want your project to end. That will bring the cursor there.
Press CTRL+SHIFT+ RIGHT ARROW. That will select the space between the current cursor position (where you want your project to end) and the point where Vegas thinks your project is ending.
Hit DELETE key and that will delete any garbage events on all tracks.This should fix it, if this doesn’t, then it’s a marker, not a clip.
Use CTRL+RIGHT ARROW to travel to that marker and delete it.
