Has anyone had a chance to try this camera (Sony_HXR_NX70U)? I’m trying to make the jump into HD and this camera (on paper) looks like it fits my bill perfectly. I do a lot of outdoor sports video and the waterproof/dustproof features are really attractive. I like the fact that it’s Sony so hopefully it would work well with Vegas. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Yes ,this camera works well with Vegas. The low light is amazing. The biggest problem with this camera is the zoom.
Sony admits there is a problem and says a fix is comming. For now if you want a smoother zoom you must use an external controller. Also be aware that this camera has no nd filter. Other than that the camera is amazing.

    Thanks for the info Jay.

I’ve read what you mentioned about the zoom. Do you know if the fix is going to be an actual physical fix to the camera or a firmware type of fix?

With no ND filter, is that something that I can correct in Vegas when I’m editing?

    Thanks

At first Sony said it would be a firmware fix, but the latest news suggests it a a hardware fix. No timeline for fix yet, they just say sometime next year. As for the nd filter…no fix in post just buy one that will fit with the lens hood on.
