Hardware or Software—best way to up-rez?

Mr. Two,

We just finished doing exactly what you’re asking about tonight. 720 timeline, needed a 1080 master. We have a Kona 3 and found that the Kona hardware seemed to do a better job of it than FCP. So the workflow was, 720 timeline but set the Kona to 720 in, 1080 out to the Sony HDCAM SR master deck (5500).

I will say this again, the Kona 2 (TWO, II, Dos, Deux) cannot do a 720 to 1080 cross convert. The Kona 3 (THREE, III, Tres, Trois) (PCIe) or the Kona 3X (PCI-X) can.
