I own both aja and black magic (decklink)

if you want proper down conversion with a sharp picture, get the AJA Kona-LHE instead
of the Decklink.

Decklink won’t down convert 720P.

I was wondering; is it a noticeable difference beetwen this kind of conversion and the one made software only, let s say with compressor with the frame controls set to on and everything set to BEST? Can you achieve that clean, sharp, contrast, hollywood dvd style image with compressor? Is it worthing to invest in Cinema craft encoder plug in for compressor or a ahardware solution as you have?

yeah the kona down converts a little better than software
and in realtime.

yes compressor can produce excellent results for DVD video.

cinemacraft or other encoders are not necessary.

AJA Kona boards. We use them all the time for up / down / cross conversion for broadcast projects. Nothing cleaner than hardware and that’s including Telestream’s Episode Pro which I now own and use.

Zero rendering time with the Kona. It’s all realtime.

What is it you actually want to do? To be fair to those poster’s replying to you here you need to be clear.

Intend to buy an decklink hd extreme,but noy know if it s a good choice or not?” and get a good answer (AJA Kona hardware) … but then you ask “Can you achieve that clean, sharp, contrast, hollywood dvd style image with compressor? Is it worthing to invest in Cinema craft encoder plug in for compressor or a a hardware solution as you have?” which is a completely different question. So what is it that you want to do … a quality down-conversion or create a “hollywood” quality DVD? They are not one and the same thing.
