Hardware conjecture
I’m attempting to maximize my current editing machine which is:
Dual Xeon 3.0Ghz PC
Supermicro XDAE serverboard
8 GB Ram
Vista Business 64 bit
system drive and storage drives plus internal Raid 0 drives
Nvidia 9600GSO graphics card (an inexpensive card)I am going to double the RAM. My question however is this: Does it make sense to replace the current Nvidia card with something more powerful, such as the Nvidia GEforce 285?
I don’t understand graphics cards enough to know whether or not it’s worth doing. Any opinions gratefully accepted.

For After Effects, there’s really not much point in getting a top-of-the-line graphics card. For After Effects, you’ll likley be better off spending your money on RAM and extra hard drives before you spend it on a high-end graphics card.
