I’m working in a medical environment and we have an HD camera (HDSDI) op that we’d like to record straight to disk to using the DVCproHD codec.

Are any (maybe all?) of the AJA cards capable of doing this?

We’d probably be happier building a PC solution using the Xena card if possible but a Mac system would do.

    Many thanks for any info

Recording straight to a Mac Pro system via HD-SDI? Sure, you can do that, I’ve done that with greenscreen shots in the past. You won’t get timecode doing it that way, but you will be able to record video / audio no problems.

I agree, and I have done it from virtually every mainstream camera on the market including Arri D20 and Genesis

I now use a converter from Adrienne to get the camera TC in

Thanks guys, BUT it needs to be DVCProHD codec. I’ve done it with the AJA codecs but cannot find the DVCproHD available.

Am I missing something silly here?

At present I only have access to a PC system that has the AJA Xena 2k card loaded but a college tells me it’s the same as the Kona 3.

    TC doesn’t worry me.

    Thanks for your time

    Thanks again guys,

I’m convinced now that Kona3 does do it and that Xena 2k won’t

That would be correct there is no DVCPROHD in windows.
