Vegas 9 wasn’t fun for me, but I’ve been riding high with version 10. However, one issue keeps popping up, and it’s not insignificant. Whenever I move a media file, Vegas has to hunt for the source folder when Vegas is loading right? That crashes my Vegas almost every time. I try skipping the first file, but the second file crashes it. Why won’t my Vegas hunt for files? It’s been a problem lately because I bought some new HDD’s and am moving a few things here and there.

Are you telling Vegas which drive to look for the files? I never let it default to all of my hard drives. I always select the specific drive that I know the media is on and Vegas Pro 10c finds the media just fine without any crashes.

I’m not, I just tell Vegas look everywhere. Usually it crashes before it finds it, sometimes it finds it, then I try and load it and then it crashes. But I’ll give your suggestion a go. Thanks.

I always add drives first, then load my Vegas files, save as , and check copy media. Then repeat to another backup drive. Now opening the .veg in either of those new folders on the new drives opens fast as Vegas doesn’t have to search for the files. You can then delete the original files since you have them backed on two seperate drives. Hope this helps, Danny Hays

Well there’s your problem. If you moved the files, you really should restrict the search to the place that you know the files are. Having Vegas hit every device on your computer could be contributing to the problem.
