why is AE often so slow, even if caps-lock is down. there is a time-lapse of nearly two seconds between selecting and highlighting a keyframe in the timeline. is the problem on my side, or is it a general thing?

    2,0 G5 / 2gig RAM allocated to AE / AE 6.5

    thanks

Not a general thing. Are you using OS9? You said you have 2GB allocated to AE. You can only allocate memory to a program in OS9. OSX is dynamically allocated.

Have you tried DEcreasing that allocated amount? Gotta leave some for the OS itself. Put it to 1GB, restart and see what happens.

Make sure you have installed the AE 6.5.1 patch, which addresses a slow-down issue on some systems.
