    Hi everyone,

I’ve used hair in a few projects now. For my latest project I want to be able to style the hair a bit more precisely.

Up until now I have just applied hair to selection tags, which leaves a harsh edge where the hair line ends.

Is there a way to thin out and reduce the length of hair towards the edge of the selected polygons? I’ve tried cutting and brushing the hairs but nothing seems to give a smooth, feathered appearance. An example would be a bald patch like below:

Can you apply and control hairs growth with a gradient map or something?

    Thanks in advance.

The best way to do it is to use a grayscale map in the hair material’s density channel. White equals full density and black equals no hair. You can do the same thing in the length channel, where white equals full length and black equals no length.
